Recently 8 students and their teacher of High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS) attended World Science Festival under invitation and started a journey into science.

The 8 outstanding students from AHS respectively introduced their scientific inventions in fluent English to the 3 well-known scientists, well displaying AHS students’ spirits of generosity, confidence, modesty, practicality and innovation as well as their comprehensive qualities and thus winning the high praise by the organizing committee of World Science Festival. Each student was endowed with the certificate as an honor issued by Chief Scientist of Queensland Government and Chief CEO of Museum Department of Queensland Government.

In Touch Future-Teenager Scientists’ Competition, students first introduced their scientific invention in English in a limited time and then received the on-site evaluation and instructions by invited scientists, all 7 of whom came from different scientific domains. After the whole winter of study and preparations, AHS students displayed their well-nurtured outcomes of innovation.

Whether it was the design closely related to real life or the innovation from professional research, the unique inventions of students all received the recognition and encouragements from those scientists. When faced with the questions raised by the on-site scientists concerning their design, students stayed calm and sober-minded and put forward timely solutions after modestly following the scientists’ suggestions, well exhibiting their innovative potentials as well as the outstanding ability of mutual communication.

In recent years AHS has always been attaching importance to nurturing students’ spirit of science and practice and cultivating generations of scientific elites. In view of setting up the platform for students to walk into the palace of science, AHS , the first high school in China to carry out the study trip of “Walk into Chinese Academy of Sciences and Stay close to Scientists”, has played an active role in organizing students to attend activities like Science Camp hosted by Chinese Academy of Sciences and Ministry of Education and Elite Program of Middle School Students. Attending World Science Festival will surely promote the school’s step to push its science and technology education to internationalization.
