On November 20 the 1st STEM Education Summit Forum of Shandong Province as well as “Growth of Qingdao Educators” Forum was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province. Wang Su, Director of National Institute of Education Sciences, conferred “First Seed School of 2029 Innovation Action of China’s Stem Education” to High School Attached to Shandong Normal University (AHS). Only 32 schools received this honor among schools of basic education in Shandong Province. On behalf of AHS, Li Suhan, Chairman of AHS Labour union , came to accept the award and delivered a speech named “Explorations on IOT and AI Teaching Based on STEM Education”.

Designated as a membership unit and with Wang Yuzhang, AHS Principal, elected to be Standing Director of Jinan STEM Education Society, AHS has been actively exploring STEM education in high schools. Centering on STEM education, AHS has been undertaking cooperation with Shandong Provincial Institute of Education Sciences, Shandong Internet of Things Association (SDLOT), Shandong University, Shandong Jianzhu University and other institutes and universities, devoting human and material resources to construction of course resources and labs, setting up platforms to promote comprehensive development of high school students, and nurturing students’ sense of innovation and cooperative ability via models like program-based learning and self management.

In the following time AHS shall conduct further cooperation with Shandong Provincial Institute of Education Sciences, introducing STEM courses in a comprehensive way, optimizing in detail activities like AI and Programming and Three-Dimensional Design and Innovation, extending bases for activities of STEM associations and forging school-based STEM courses with AHS characteristics based on LOT and AI.
